First I was on a cruise toghether with friends which started in Miami. The cruise on the Caribbean Sea was relaxing and a welcome change from my backpack experiences. We had a stop at Cozumel, Belize, Roatan and Grand Cayman Island. Belize has a pretty charming character , whereas the population is generally poor. Roatans environment is tropically green and the economy is a little more flourishing. Environmentally Grand Cayman can't be compared to the other places. It was worth spending there a day but I have no larger interest to visit the island again. After the cruise I travelled through Yucatan with two friends of mine. Looking back, I can warmly recommend two places - namely Meridà and Majahual. Meridà has the charme of a real mexico town and is quite close to the mayan sites Uxmal and Chichen Itza. Majahual is still layed back and is commonly just visited during the day by some cruise ships. It has the most beautyful white beaches and turquise blue water and the locals are very friendly. Unfortunatly my beloved camera got wet during a kayak trip so I had to buy another which is no comparison to my old one. This is the reason why I didn't take more pictures on this vacation.
